My week's Top 5 reading selection: Why Jeff Bezos’s Two-Pizza Team Rule Works

As a marketer, brand man and part-time entrepreneur, I'm always on the lookout for ideas and stories that can inspire my work. Here's a soupçon of some of the most interesting one's I've read recently.

The science is old news. The (possible) inspiration for the science even older ie. teamwork structures of pack hunters in nature. Yet, we still get it wrong.

A refreshing way to inspire us to be better at our jobs. This is an excellent collection I came across!

As the industry evolves, the challenge for marketers is to convince people they have skills that sit beyond the conventional skillset. Like their ability to 'join the dots', that will help them unite teams and break down silos.

Ads are becoming the new cinema, with the videos in this list totaling more than double the total time of the previous year’s top ads. The top ads were also more likely to take a stand on socio-political issues - seven of the top 10 spots were created around themes of inclusion, diversity or empowerment. (Only two of 2016’s top ten ads took a stand attached to social issues.).

The BBC documentary Blue Planet II raised the profile on the issue of plastic waste. Ironically, Evian has issued a call-to-arms to brands to do more about plastic waste. While a ban on imports of millions of tonnes of plastic waste by the Chinese government is causing serious recycling issues elsewhere. Too little, too late?
